Today I’m catching up with the gorgeous Jessica Sepel from JS Health about health on the run, health in the holiday season and the secrets to a glowing complexion and luscious locks like Jess. Read on for her wellness wisdom…
Celina: I work with very busy women, can you offer some advice on how women can fuel their body to give them the energy they need to juggle their busy lives?
Jess: Make sure to have a protein rich breakfast – this will give you the energy you need to kick-start your busy day! Always have healthy snacks on stand by – I often carry home made trail mix or protein balls in my bag so I am snack ready when on the go. Here preparation is key – so make sure to set aside some time at the beginning of each week to prepare healthy snacks for the week ahead.
Celina: You’ve said that after making changes you then ate in a way that healed your body…how can other women heal their body through food?
Jess: Commit to understanding the way your body works – it’s truly fascinating! Understand what foods heal you in which ways and explore them. When you listen to the cues your body is giving you, you’ll be amazed. You can’t help but love this incredible vessel when you’re in tune. Respecting your body means fuelling it with the goodness it needs to survive and thrive! Make a commitment to loving yourself this way
Celina: Do you have any tips for staying healthy on the run at work or when travelling?
Jess: Again preparation is key! When we’re juggling busy schedules it is so important to set aside some time each day or at the beginning of the week to prepare healthy meals and snacks for when you’re on the go. That way you’ll have plenty of great options available at all times – especially when you’re in a rush!
Celina: How can women stay healthy during the holiday season and are we allowed to have a cheat day or two?
Jess:
- Ironically the holiday season can often be stressful! With kids, traveling, holiday festivities, and so forth. My advice is to try and cut back on stress. It’s my belief that stress is what sabotages our health. I take 10-15 minutes every day that is just for me – to mediate, deep breathe, take a bath, read, or simply rest.
- Yes! I believe indulging is key to a healthy lifestyle – as long as it’s not everyday. Allow yourself to indulge every once in a while. It’s perfectly normal and not to mention enjoyable!
Celina: How important is our relationships with food? Can you tell us more about this?
Jess: I believe a healthy and happy life truly begins with our relationship with food. We can’t feel good without taking good care of ourselves. I make the choice to eat nutritious foods and move in ways I love. I wake up feeling amazing. I have the energy and passion to achieve my goals; to live the life of my dreams.
Celina: We’ve talked about foods that make us better on the inside, how about foods that make us look better on the outside! All women want to look good as well as feel good, any tips on how to get your glowing complexion and beautiful long locks!!
Jess:
- Beauty starts in the kitchen. I believe in fuelling and nourishing my body with real, whole foods.
- For a glowing complexion and luscious locks – drink plenty of water, cut down on the major allergens (specifically dairy and gluten), eat plenty of greens, lean proteins, nuts and seeds
- Also – Rest, rest, rest.! Rest is not a luxury – it is a necessity. Make sure to get 8 hours of sleep every night – Your body will thank you by looking AND feeling good.
Thank you so much to the beautiful Jess for her educated insights!
I hope this helps get you all through the holiday season and the busy new year in good health.
Merry Christmas to everyone from me and my family to you and yours. Enjoy the silly season and get some well earned rest!
